CEA CAPA Education Abroad in London, England

I had an amazing experience with CAPA. Before the program started, I had never left the country, so CAPA helped make the transition from the US to London go smoothly. The staff were always friendly and were able to connect with the students. While abroad, CAPA was able to help me get connected with an internship, where I learned a lot and felt like I grew as a person. Also, as a student with a learning disability, CAPA was able to give me accommodations to help me thrive during my time in London and helped me be successful in the classroom. There were also many fun excursions that the program provided that helped me learn more about the UK. For example, we were able to visit the Stonehenge and Oxford, among others. All in all, CAPA helped me feel confident in living, not only a new city, but a new country, where I have made many good memories.

The Creative Arts Program with CAPA London is ideal for any student interested in the fields of writing, theatre, or visual arts! Classes in this program are available in these fields along with history, museums, pop culture, arts administration, Shakespeare, and playwriting. Doing a certificate program is not all that different from not doing one, the only real difference I experienced was having slightly different requirements for some of my assignments. CAPA prioritizes learning beyond the classroom, so I got to go on awesome field trips such as the Victoria & Albert Museum, the National Theatre, and seeing amazing plays! These all helped me to be immersed in the London arts scene and experience it all firsthand. If this sounds up your alley, I highly recommend also doing the CAPA internship program in an arts field. I'm a double major in Theatre Arts and Marketing, so I specified that and my career goals and interests during my internship placement interview with CAPA. I was placed with a youth theatre company doing social media marketing, and I'm so glad I was. I learned so much about theatre in London and also how the arts business operates. I was able to be surrounded by work I was passionate about while also gaining tangible professional experience!
(Something to be aware of, though, is if you decide to drop the internship program you will NOT receive the certificate, so be careful!) All in all, London is THE place to study abroad or intern if you are an artistically-inclined individual, and CAPA is a great help in making your vision come to life.

I have always wanted to travel. Ever since I was a little girl and One Direction was constantly playing in my earbuds, I couldn't stop thinking about traveling to Europe. Plus, I love love love anything to do with art and history. Being from the US, things aren't very old here. But in Europe, things are older than I've ever imagined they could be. I was amazed at how much history there was simply just walking down the street. I remember dreaming in my history and art classes about how much I wanted to actually see and look at the things that they were telling me about; and I actually got to. It was a dream come true. One thing you should know is that this is going to be so much different than anything you’ve ever done before. Plus, know that everything is super fluid, and things may change! I wish I would’ve known that going in. I definitely didn’t expect a global pandemic to happen, but when things changed like how they did, I wish I would’ve been more prepared! Also, you are going to experience A LOT of independence. A lot more than normal… your parents, friends, and family are across the ocean, and you are totally alone over here! But, know that you’re actually not alone, because you’ll be making amazing friends really soon, plus, CAPA staff is always there for you too!

Being a 21 year old senior in college I needed a study abroad experience to meet graduation requirements. I was so excited for the opportunity to study and thankfully cam across CAPA. I was introduced to the program through a few friends who had already been apart of it and heard nothing but great things. My time abroad was everything I could have imagined and more. It was so much fun being able to live in a new city and new culture and experience a whole different world. I really enjoyed making new friends and being able to experience new things with these people. The best part of my experience was being able to travel all across Europe for a great price. Overall I think CAPA provides the best opportunity for those looking to get the most out of their experience

CEA aided me in the pre-departure process as much as one could possibly expect. From making a payment schedule that worked with my financial needs to guiding me through the immigration process step-by-step, the staff always made sure we had support. In London, where I studied, CEA made sure to host events and excursions included in our tuition that allowed us to meet people and experience the diversity of cultures thriving in London. I was able to gain the confidence to do things like walk through the big city and even travel to new places on my own. I highly recommend it!

This was my first experience in Europe and I couldn't have asked for anything better. CAPA organized numerous excursions for us and set up our housing in a cozy hostel. My favorite part about the trip was the walking tour around Shoreditch. It was beautiful and we were able to learn the area's history through a personal tour guide. Additionally, all of the staff member were jut a phone call away if we ever needed anything which made me feel safe and comfortable when getting acquainted to a brand new country.

I am absolutely thrilled that I was chosen to have the opportunity to study abroad in one of my favorite countries. Being overseas allowed me to not only further my education in medicine, but it allowed me to have a wider outlook on life and gave me a sense of variety when it comes to the multiple patients I will have to face in the future. It was a very informative time and I was able to gather so much knowledge and understanding not only about myself but England as well. I am now well equipped to becoming a better person and doctor.

The CAPA program is overall a great program to participate in. CAPA definitely helps you adjust to the new city and environment by supplying so many things to do and giving advice about nearly any topic. Academically the professors are very smart and super easy to work with. I love the trips that I got to take and overall has a great time. I think the biggest thing when choosing CAPA is to really get outside your comfort zone. If you do not try to adjust and be cooperative you will not have a good time. CAPA was a great program and I would highly recommend it.
